About PACR – Standards for Cloud Provider Compliance

Recently one of the government members of OASIS identified that there was a need for a formalized set of best practices for adoption of Cloud service in the public sector, and the ‘PACR’ group idea was started to address these needs.

Cloud Provider Compliance

The need for these types of standards was succinctly described in this press release from Canadian telco provider Telus earlier in the year, where it identifies:

“87 per cent of Canadian business and IT leaders have significant concerns about public cloud’s ability to handle data in compliance with regulations and legislation.”

This is the primary agenda for the PACR group, to define a program that packages the standards required for defining and achieving some form of compliance program for Cloud Computing.

It`s initially targeted for the public sector but can equally be applied to other industries too.
